Means of transport in the First Republic school paintings
The Comenius Museum in Přerov invites you to an exhibition, which presents a selection of collections of school paintings on the theme of "means of transport".
From the rich collections, wall school paintings with the theme of land, water and air transport were selected. We focused on the First Republic teaching boards from the 1930s, which were used in the subjects of elementary school and homeland studies.
Images often represent not a real, but a model traffic situation - as many different vehicles, vessels and aircraft in a given environment as possible so that they can be described and compared. Localities in the city and in the countryside are captured. The large size allows you to show the details of daily operation with common activities, they were also used for non-violent advertising of period companies.
The First Republic paintings show means of transport that have undergone technical development or are known only from narration, they remind us of places that no longer exist. The depiction of traffic situations on didactic boards continued after the Second World War and is a popular topic even today, especially with an emphasis on road safety.
