A school classroom from the 1950s
Through the exhibition, we find ourselves in the classroom of a small-class national school, and the size of the benches with cast iron sides and folding seats corresponds to this size. In front is the teacher's office, next to it a large abacus on the stand, as well as a sink and a water jug. On the front wall with a two-leaf panel in the middle there is a coat of arms from the period of People's Democratic Czechoslovakia and portraits of two statesmen, Czechoslovak President Klement Gottwald and a representative of the Soviet Union, Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin.
Celebratory slogans for friendship with the Soviet Union and Vladimir Ilyich Lenin's quote "Learn, learn, learn!" Hung on the walls. The historical paintings are reminiscent of the themes of the liberation of our countries by the Red Army in 1945 and Victory February 1948. You can see a complete set of school didactic paintings The Living Alphabet, published in 1953. In the right corner of the room there is a pioneer corner with pioneer symbolism (flag, banners), a drum and a trumpet. On the bulletin board you can watch information about the organized temporary activities of children (collection, cleaning assistance in agriculture). By looking at textbooks for various subjects, you can compare the level of knowledge required at the time with the range of requirements for current students 1-5. classes.
