School classroom from the 17th century (from Comenius' time)
The exhibition cycle of historical reconstructions of school classrooms documents in an interesting way various periods of development of the history of education and pedagogy in the Czech lands. The rich "school" collections of the Comenius Museum focused on school furniture, school supplies, school murals, maps and textbooks are used in the installations of period school classrooms.
Reconstruction of a school classroom from the 17th century (from Comenius' time) was built into one of the rooms of the original "comeniological" exhibition on the 1st floor of the south wing of the castle in 1992. The installation of the 17th century classroom was reconstructed Comenius' writings Orbis pictus and the Vestibulum. A plank floor, a wooden beamed flap ceiling, wooden doors and copies of Renaissance white-green glazed tiled stoves contribute to the credible evocation of the period classroom.
